Would the real Vikings eat here? Yeah I think so. Pretty much as expected. Full of locals. Good solid diner food. Had to get the Larryburger since I enjoy onions. It was super. The fries were pretty ordinary but not a throw away. I ate them all. Definitely worth the short drive off the freeway. It's quick, cheap and very local. The Nordic atmosphere is real homey! Enjoy.

A taste of the "Northland" dining! A classic feel and good food. I would definitely try the Reuben! A definite "Locals" hang-out... introduce them to the world of Yelp.

Every time we go the food and service are exactly what you would expect from a small town restaurant, excellent!! The kids meals are perfect and the prices are very reasonable!

The omelets are the best no wonder they won the best of Minnesota! I normally have ham and cheese with mushrooms omelet. It also comes with a generous portion of hash browns as well! The waitresses always make sure you coffee is full. This is why I highly recommend a fergus favorite!

Great "old school" atmosphere! Pork commercial hit the spot. Home cooked taste and menu items we miss! I'll be back!

This is the quintessential small town MN café. The breakfasts looked amazing, and the buffet ham is fantastic. It isn't a fancy place, it isn't glamorous. It's a family-owned and run hometown eatery that's down-to-earth. Prices are fantastic and portions are filling. Go there for comfort food!

If you are looking for a delicious breakfast that will leave you FULL here is the place to go. Great service. The food comes quickly and the price is right. I am currently trying everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed.

Comfort food. Best breakfast in the world, great hash browns, eggs the way you choose, Daily sandwich & soup, especially Friday --- tomato & grilled cheese. Hometown restaurant, daily specials & if you have a hankering for hot beef, pork, turkey with gravy & mashed potatoes or hamburger & fries or a piece if homemade pie, stop right here.

Deceptively big, the Viking Cafe is a great place to stop in for breakfast or a coffee with local friends. An egg, hash browns, bacon and toast costs $3.25! Excellent big homemade bran muffins.

Five yrs ago I would have said go here if you're looking for breakfast. However, the food and service has declined in recent years. They keep the place the same in appearance. Menu seems unchanged as well. It's the quality that's disappointing - every time! Luke warm breakfast food at best, dishwater coffee. Lunch food, also nothing to write home about anymore.

One of the BEST hometown cafe's that is true to its word. Food options are down home hearty helpings and amazingly great prices. Old decor is PERFECT. Be prepared at times to wait for a table as this is a hot restaurant!

Had breakfast yesterday - over-easy eggs good, my daughter said she had good decaf coffee. My sausage patty was so tough I had to cut it with a knife, and the hash browns were almost entirely raw. I don't know why we ate most of our food, I guess because we were really hungry and none-too-sharp from a bad night of sleep. Both my daughter and I had diarrhea afterward, apparently from the hash browns since she only had a pancake otherwise. On the bright side, the place was dirty and the server was surly! My daughter said thank you when she set the plate down and the server literally grunted without looking at her.

Chowder is naturally thicker than vegetable soup, but to stand my spoon up in it??? I was in Fergus Falls on business yesterday and asked where I could find a good bowl of soup. The recommendation was The Viking Cafe. I got there about 12:40 and was grabbed the last available booth. Service was slow, understandable at that time of day, but the server just slapped the menu on the table, and turned away as though I didn't exist. I ordered the soup and salad bar. The salad bar was pathetic -- a little iceberg lettuce, a few tomato slices, sliced olives, egg salad, potato salad, and a couple of other things not usually associated with salad. The soup was like library paste. I took a couple of bites, but couldn't manage more than that. For fun, I put my spoon into it and was not surprised that it stood up straight for nearly half a minute. No, I would NEVER go back!
